Policy Overview

These guidelines are in place to ensure some sense of structure for our guild, to our raiding environment, and to guarantee the best possible chance of success.

  • We expect you to use your common sense when it comes to reserving your raid ID's for guild runs. Exception being if a particular raid is not on our official raid schedule, (though it does pay to ask) or you are unable to make a guild run due to timing conflicts.
  • We're a little lax about VoA (10's & 25's) and don't tend to schedule that in. It's something we'd do more on the fly or individually PuG. In addition we also no longer schedule any other 10 man content. We leave this for our members to organize amongst themselves on off-nights or where interest allows.
  • Attendance: The in-game calendar is used to announce the upcoming raid schedule. So check the calendar frequently and confirm your availability asap. In addition, if you join a raid, ensure you are able to stay for the full duration with minimal afks. Having 24 other people wait on you isn't cool. We want to maximize our efficiency and if it saves us 15 minutes over the course of a few hours this adds up to more/faster progression in the long run.
  • We don't raid an overly excessive number of days. With such a light schedule we can't afford to have people randomly pull no-shows. If for any reason you are unable to make a raid please post on the forums accordingly.
  • You joined the guild to raid. If you consistently are seen to not be attending raids this is something that will need to be addressed and will result in a demotion until you can consistently get back into the raiding scene.
  • Focus: You must be able to remain focused and attentive for long periods of time. During progress, raids will require hours of high level performance and we will expect all raid members to listen to their role and the overall strategy. Leaving your computer when assignments and/or roles are being handed out is not something we like to see. Neither sre unannounced AFK's.
  • Inactivity: Raiders are expected to let us know about extended absences in a timely fashion through a post on the forums or by notifying someone in Guild Leadership. This policy is intended to encourage players to remain active and participate in the guild's activities, specifically raiding. If you are found to be inactive for a period greater a month this may result in guild removal, or demotion regardless of rank and at the discretion of Guild Leadership.
  • Be on time: You should be online and ready for raid invites before the commencement of a raid. This gives you time to sort out your consumables, spec and gear, and gives us time to organize composition, and replacements where necessary. You should also be zoned into our raid target by 7pm so we can start pulling.
  • In the event that you will be running late or can't make a raid, post on the forums.
  • Communication: We firmly believe that effective communication is vital for both the success of a guild and the success of our raids. Use of Ventrilo is required for all guild raids to ensure the utmost in flexibility and responsiveness. Do not listen to music during raids if it means you cannot hear the Raid Leader(s) instructions.
  • We don't mind vent chit chat, but while we are getting ready to engage a boss, while we're fighting a boss, or while we're fine-tuning execution post boss wipe please share only vital information. This is particularly important during progression periods.
  • All our members must also have a guild forum account for the purposes of planning, raid scheduling and community development.
  • Consumables: Everyone is expected to provide their own consumables at all times, even in some cases for farmed content. Due to the nature of how easy it is to make gold nowadays this is not unreasonable. If everybody flasks it makes us clear content that little bit faster and more smoothly, allowing for more time to be spent on progression content. If you consistently fail to bring consumables, your place in our raids will be under scrutiny.

  • Remember that the guilds success as a whole is dependent on every individual being as prepared as possible. Turning up to a raid with gear which is not gemmed or enchanted will be frowned upon, even if you obtained those items in the previous night's raid. In addition, don't skimp on gems or leg threads/armor kits. Strive to have the best item in-slot.
  • Listen to the Raid Leader(s) : If the leader asks for information, or if you disagree with something that has been said, offer your opinion in a whisper. Keep conflicting information out of raid chat. Only the Raid Leader(s) should ever call for wipes, soulstones, battle rezzes, wipe protection, etc. Conflicting information will only confuse your fellow raiders, and vent chatter should be kept to absolute minimum (ie. it's only important if it’s going to cause a wipe) during boss fights.
  • Loot Distribution: Insurgence uses a Loot Council with the following criteria taken into consideration when distributing loot:

Performance, Environmental/Situational Awareness, Attendance/ Consistency/ Reliability, Upgrade Size/ Longevity of the Upgrade, Distribution History, and Set Bonuses.

With a common factor of what benefits the guild most. (not the individual)
  • Always remember that an upgrade for you may be a better upgrade for someone else, that a piece of loot benefits you even if someone else picks it up, since it benefits the raid. Don't be greedy. Understand loot, how it benefits you, how it benefits others, and what other loot is available.
  • BoE's: BoE's acquired in an all guild raid that are not needed for a main spec will be put into the guild bank and possibly sold via the AH to help keep our bank balance healthy.
  • If you would like to discuss or propose a change in the loot policies, or anything regarding possible loot distribution, approach anyone from the Guild Leadership. The loot policies aren't set in stone; if we have a compelling reason to change them, we will. Feel free to present one at any time.
  • Mains and Alts: You should have a strong idea of which character is your raiding main, and which other characters are your alts as they will be given guild ranks to match. It is expected that you bring your main to raids at all times.
  • We don't care what you do with your alt. You can take it in and out of the guild as you wish, join them to different guilds, whatever, as long as your main maintains the level of activity the guild expects from them.
  • Alts that have been inactive for over a month will be removed from the guild.
  • While you can ask to bring your alt to farmed content, don't be offended or make a big deal out of it if you're told no. We're not here to gear up your alts, period. Do that outside of scheduled guild raids.
  • Read Strategies: While most fights will be explained to some extent while they are fresh and new, you should go out of your way to read about upcoming boss fights ahead of time. There are a plethora of resources available for this purpose.
  • Reagents: Bring enough to last the full duration of any given raid. It's better to bring too many than too few, and be prepared for the situation in which we spend a night wiping to a new boss.
  • Spec: While we endeavour to allow you to play in the style which you prefer, it is likely that you joined the guild as a particular spec to fill a certain role. Successful raids typically require the correct composition of tanks, healers, and dps classes, and acceptance into the guild may have been subject to these requirements. As such, you should discuss significant spec changes with the Guild Leadership to make sure that we will still have a raid slot for you in your new spec. In addition, raiding with a PvP spec over a PvE spec will not be seen as acceptable.
